I graduated with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (PsyD) from Pacific University’s School of Graduate Psychology in August 2025. I was lucky enough to complete and defend my dissertation on a topic and population that made the work meaningful for me (sadly, not everyone gets that luxury!). My dissertation focused on treating adoption-related complex trauma in transracial and transnational adult adoptees through integrating relational, attachment, and multicultural frameworks. This aligned well with my theoretical approach to client care and my clinical areas of expertise.
My identities and lived experiences as a neurodivergent, adoptee of color, have had a large influence on my desire to provide inclusive, affirming, and culturally congruent care to individuals regardless of race, religion, socioeconomic status, citizenship status, gender, or sex, with a particular passion for serving individuals who are marginalized, oppressed, or misunderstood.
My interest in providing psychological testing is largely due to the (sometimes life changing) impact the insights can have. From personal experience, it was validating to discover that my difficulties weren’t just in my head, while also highlighting my areas of strength. Testing can provide recommendations and access to other treatment options that otherwise may not be accessible or not considered. Psychological testing is more than just a possible diagnosis; it can help you learn more about yourself too!
Clinical Experience
My clinical placements in college counseling and community mental health settings reinforced my passion for working with emerging adults and adults, particularly those who identify as BIPOC, neurodivergent, and/or adopted. I found myself drawn to working alongside individuals with developmental, relational, attachment wounds, and/or complex traumas, as well as those who were learning to manage severe and persistent mental illnesses.
Before opening my private practice and beginning my postdoc, I accrued 4 years of clinical experience during my doctoral program. I provided psychotherapy (individual and group) and psychological assessment in community mental health and college counseling settings. I had the privilege of working with adoptees, BIPOC, and other populations in long term and time-limited settings, which helped me adapt treatment based on need and other external factors. Prior to attending graduate school, I worked in community mental health as a Level 3 Clinician, providing support and case management to high acuity individuals who were doing their best to manage severe and persistent mental illness(es), substance use, and limited access to resources. A disproportionate number of clients were people of color and/or held other marginalized identities.
Approach to Treatment
My approach to treatment is relational, curious, warm, and gentle. I bring myself into the therapy space so clients experience genuine reactions and receive feedback informed by evidenced-based theories and practice. Therapy and psychological assessments are collaborative processes that are tailored to each individual, and evolve as needs change. I may prompt or suggest a direction to explore, but where we go and at what pace, is ultimately up to you. Consent, safety, and collaboration are emphasized throughout the therapeutic process.
We humans are complex beings. To attend to the many dimensions and layers that have influenced your identity and experiences, I integrate research, theory, assessment, and evidenced-based practice to provide treatment that is nuanced and attuned to the complexities of the individual psychological experience.
Coping skills are incorporated (as needed) to help support management of distressing emotions, memories, and thoughts.
